Dangal - Indian Film Festival 2017

Dangal - Indian Film Festival 2017

The City of Greater Dandenong welcomes the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) this August. The home of Victoria’s first Indian Cultural Precinct will once again be part of the 2017 festival. Join us for a night of Indian Film and a celebration of diversity at Dandenong’s Drum Theatre.

Based on a true story (but given the full Bollywood treatment), Aamir Khan stars as an ex-wrestler whose Olympic dreams were once crushed by a lack of money. Years later, having failed to produce a son, he commits to turning his daughters into champions. But will Indian men let them? Just like its plucky characters, this crowd pleaser overcame faced down backlash to triump, briefly becoming India’s all time box office champ.
